Let me introduce you!

Let me present wellies & co, the first being redwellies and the last being and by no means least the astounding and champion digging giraffe wellies.

These wellies have a lot to tell you, so make sure and visit us from time to time for the

next exciting installment!

The wonderous world of Allotments

My first attempt at allotmenting was approximately three years ago, whereby I took on a plot that nobody else wanted, it even had an anderson shelter in the corner. The plot was covered in the worse weeds imaginable, such as dock, bramble and horsetail and a massive amount of bind weed. It took me a week to clear a very small patch which would have fitted in one row of potatoes, but I persevered. The soil was clay, which on a dry day turned to concrete and on a wet day a death trap, but I continued for a few months. I managed to grow strawberries, brussel sprouts, as they loved it, butternut squash and several varieties of lettuce. which considering I was an utter novice, was a substantial achievement. However, being unexpectedly given the opportunity of attending University, gave rise to a decrease in hours dedicated to the allotment and the redwellies, along with giraffe wellies were semi retired, and relinquished my plot, but remained on the waiting list for a more manageable plot. Realising the need to be in the open doors, and to give my brain a rest from the constant studying, I was overjoyed with the news that the redwellies and giraffe wellies were to be given a second chance, and was offered a plot that had recently been given up by a ninety year old, the soil was heaven, I acquired a shed and some tools handed down from the previous plot owner, to whom I shall be ever grateful, and a letter of thanks was forwarded forthwith, so henceforth started the true journey of red and giraffe wellies, may they live long and prosper.
